Day 15 – On this day, students took a long ride back to Yerevan from Astrakh Republic. They had two sightseeing stops along the way. The first one was the twelve-minute ride on the aerial tramway ‘Tatever’ that took them to the ‘Datev’ Monastery in the Syunik province of the Republic of Armenia. The second stop was at the ‘Khor Virap’ monastery where students went down a steep set of stairs to the dungeon where Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned. In this holy place, a Year 11 student sang the Lord’s Prayer (Hayr Mer) reminding us of the Christian faith that kept St. Gregory the Illuminator alive for thirteen years. Just before the sun went down, students were able to capture Mount Ararat in the numerous photos they took at the Khor Virap complex. Students arrived at their hotel in Yerevan at 9:00 pm.
